Police are investigating a shooting late Monday in the south midtown area that left one man dead and another wounded, according to a Little Rock police release.

Officers responded to 1600 John Barrow Road near Kanis Road about 11:20 p.m. after gunshots were reported. They found a victim with a gunshot wound in his buttocks in the Trinity Village apartment complex, and he was taken to UAMS Medical Center, the release said.

Daishaun Allen, 21, a second victim, was taken to Baptist Hospital Medical Center where he died, the release said.

Allen also was shot June 2 at Cantrell Road and Cleveland Street. Nicholas Jones, 19, was killed in that shooting. Allen was wounded in his right leg. He told police that he was sitting behind Jones in a vehicle when he was shot.

Little Rock police have not made an arrest in the investigation from the earlier shooting, according to spokesman officer Eric Barnes.

Homicide detectives are working to review surveillance footage at the apartment complex, the release said.
