Shabana Kauser

Where I live: Mount Sequoyah in Fayetteville.

Occupation: Artist and owner of shabanakauserart.com.

My favorite Space: My custom built art studio, adjacent to our backyard deck where I work and entertain friends and collectors.

Why? This is my favorite space for so many reasons. My husband and I moved to Fayetteville from Central London more than 11 years ago. One of the things we love about our home is the space and greenery.

I discovered my love for creating in Arkansas. Last year, we converted a building in our backyard into my fabulous art studio. Our backyard is surrounded by large trees and we are not overlooking any neighbors. We always enjoy entertaining with food and drink outdoors, then put art into the mix and it makes a great evening.

The custom gallery lighting, white walls and light gray flooring put the focus on my colorful dupattas (traditional South Asian scarves), jewelry and my inspiration for creating portraits of South Asian Immigrant women. My studio is a serene space for tapping into my creativity and culture, which I have enjoyed sharing with the community.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Right now, I'd say my creative space is perfect. I enjoy working in it each day.
