Online site offers community links

The Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau created an online resource for Arkansans to find information about local businesses, restaurants and services during the covid-19 pandemic.

The website, upliftarkansas.com, is a community service project by the bureau, and the marketing firms Mangan Holcomb Partners and Team SI. Mangan Holcomb Partners leads in-state advertising for the bureau.

Arkansans can enter their location and keywords or browse by category to find are restaurants, shops, grocery stores and wellness-focused businesses to support. The site also has links to job openings, charities, and other information and resources.

"It's simply meant to be a community resource," said Gretchen Hall, Little Rock bureau president and chief executive officer, at a special meeting of the city's Advertising and Promotion Commission on Friday. "We hope that it is helpful for partners and residents not only in Central Arkansas but throughout the state, as well."

Closed museum touts online visits

Though the Esse Purse Museum in Little Rock's South Main neighborhood has closed because of the covid-19 pandemic, the museum has created a way for people to view its exhibits from their homes.

The museum's latest temporary exhibit, which focuses on the 1970s, as well as an exhibit on shoes in collaboration with the Fashion History Museum, is now available to explore virtually online.

The exhibits include pictures, 360-degree photos, and the in-depth historic information one would typically see on a museum plaque.

Fans of fashion and history can also take a virtual tour of the store.

A link to the free, virtual exhibits can be found at essepursemuseum.com.

The museum, like some other local businesses, is also offering free domestic shipping on online orders, because of the pandemic.
