Gunfire report leads to Maumelle arrest

Police officers in Maumelle arrested a man Wednesday night at the site of a reported shooting, a report said.

The report said that officers responded to 34 Edgehill Cove about 6:30 p.m., where Desmond Dennis, 19, approached and told them he was at the scene after hearing gunshots.

A witness told the officers that Dennis and another man were firing at an SUV in the parking lot, the report said. Dennis said that the SUV belonged to his sister, according to the report.

Officers reported finding a small bag of marijuana on Dennis, and about 50 shell casings were found at the scene, police said.

Dennis was taken to the Pulaski County jail where he is charged with felony criminal conspiracy and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

Man faces charges after officer bitten

Little Rock police arrested a Mabelvale man Thursday morning, accusing him of biting an officer, according to a report.

The report said that an officer approached Quincy Jones, 25, just after 3 a.m., which was past Little Rock's coronavirus curfew. According to the report, Jones refused to identify himself and bit the officer on the right hand as he tried to take Jones into custody.

Jones was taken to the Pulaski County jail where he has no bail set and is charged with felony battery, two misdemeanor counts of obstructing government operations and misdemeanor resisting arrest.
