Organizers say the event committee, led by Debbie Alsup, Silvia Azrai Kawas and Jody Pinson, "is working tirelessly to make this year's luncheon the best yet!"

"Every 80 seconds a woman loses her life to cardiovascular disease. That is one-third of our mothers, sisters and friends. It is time to change this fact. It's no longer just about wearing red or sharing data. It's a time for all women to stand together and demand more for the lives of women we love. The American Heart Association's Go Red for Women movement fights for equal health opportunities for women in research, diagnosis and treatment."

The fundraiser's favorites will still be part of the virtual event, including the "Purse"-onality auction and guest speaker -- plus additional aspects unique to a virtual event, such as interactive components. Stephanie Parsley, who survived two heart attacks after having a baby last August, will share her story.

Guests will learn more about the Go Red For Women movement, which "harnesses the energy, passion and power of women to band together and collectively wipe out heart disease. It challenges them to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk. It also gives them tools they need to lead a heart healthy life."

Previous guest speakers have included Rachael Ray, Star Jones, Marilu Henner, Dr. Phil McGraw, Kelley Earnhardt Miller, Kirk Herbstreit and Savvy Shields, Miss America 2017.

A link will be provided for those who register through NWAGoRedforWomen.heart.org, and guests are encouraged to "join the conversation" by using the hashtag #NWAGoRed

Go Red for Women is sponsored nationally by CVS Health. Local presenters include:

• Life is Why sponsors -- Northwest Health and The Emerson Group

• Healthy for Good sponsor -- RB

• Signature sponsors -- 3M, Bayer Healthcare, GSK and Paris Presents

Cyd King, AHA-Northwest Arkansas communications director, offered a reminder for everyone, not just women.

"While hospitals are adapting to accept and treat patients with the coronavirus, other people with serious health issues -- such as heart attack, heart disease and stroke -- should not hesitate to seek emergency care if there's a problem."
