Due to covid-19 concerns, Altrusa International of Bentonville/Bella Vista has been meeting via Zoom thanks to President Gay Kikers innovative thinking. Roll was taken with 14 members zooming in. Last fall Altrusa donated 150 backpacks to the Gravette Library for the summer reading program. This year things have changed, and there will be no in-library programs. Instead, Altrusa donated $500 to a new program featuring classic fairy tales that will include online story times and summer learning bags. Cemetery

The Mount Comfort Cemetery Association's annual meeting was May 2, held via conference call due to covid-19 concerns.

Officers elected were Terry Davis of Bentonville, president; Donald Hatfield, vice president; and Peggy Hatfield, secretary/treasurer, both of Prairie Grove. The projected deficit for 2020 is $8,000. Association members are asked to consider making donations for maintenance. Members are those who hold the burial rights to a grave site and/or relatives of those buried in the cemetery. Due to the deficit, the board approved to increase the cost of burial rights from $350 to $500 for traditional and from $50 to $100 for cremains and to add a fee for flagging graves to be opened and for placement of headstones. These changes will go into effect after the health emergency has been lifted or as of Jan. 1, 2021, whichever comes first.

Decoration Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 24. Association members will be on site to receive donations. Everyone visiting the cemetery should practice social distancing, keep groups at 10 or fewer and masks are suggested.

Tax-deductible donations can be mailed to Mount Comfort Cemetery Association, 3878 W. Mount Comfort Road, Fayetteville 72704. Please make checks payable to the Mount Comfort Cemetery Association.
