Maybe a few concerns

about Democrats’ values

Regarding Suzanne Childers’ letter of May 2: I wish to examine her claims about Democrats’ qualifications.

They value diversity and tolerance? She must be young. I am 90 and remember a different Democrat … such as starting of a bloody Civil War (diversity and tolerance she said was valued by Democrats). They valued slavery enough to kill fellow citizens. Then in the South they clung to segregation, lynching, poll taxes, whites-only schools, bathrooms, restaurants, etc.

These I will give her: They passed Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, partly paid for by the recipient.

They value clean air and water. They also believe that Republicans who don’t want Democrats’ solutions containing super to-the-max regulations must therefore mean they want to allow toxic air and water into everyone’s homes and “no regulations.” Again, I give her strengthening gun background checks and no assault guns by the common owner.

Democrats believe in the rule of law? As in Faubus defying the Supreme Court’s order to integrate schools; Sen. Fulbright filibustering the civil rights bill; Robert Byrd, longest-serving member of Congress at the time of his death, was a member of the KKK. Roosevelt appointed a KKK member to the Supreme Court. Hillary Clinton’s numerous uses of her email on her personal server (she should have been fired for that and Benghazi). Rod Blagojevich and the recording of him selling a political seat. Then oodles of bad behavior by Anthony Weiner.

Does this count as embarrassing the U.S. on the world stage?

Well, I could go on and on. This really was my reply to Suzanne’s letter. Hopefully the rest of you have just gone back to solving the puzzle.
