• Weatherman and morning TV co-host Al Roker has revealed that he has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and will be undergoing surgery to have his prostate removed. "It's a good news-bad news kind of thing," Roker said Friday on NBC's "Today." "Good news is we caught it early. Not great news is that it's a little aggressive, so I'm going to be taking some time off to take care of this." Roker revealed he got the diagnosis Sept. 29. It began with a routine physical when his doctor discovered he had an elevated prostate-specific antigen in his blood work. That led to him getting an MRI, followed by a biopsy, to confirm his diagnosis. The 66-year-old TV personality urged others at risk -- particularly Black men -- to ensure they see a doctor and get the proper checkups to stop a cancer that is very treatable if detected early. "The problem for African Americans is that any number of reasons from genetics to access to health care, and so we want to make it available and let people know they got to get checked," Roker said. Roker, a father of three, was by himself when he received the diagnosis. That made his wife, ABC News correspondent Deborah Roberts, upset. "I feel badly because I didn't tell Deborah to come with me," he said. "In hindsight, boy I wish I'd told her to come."

• Carl Lentz, the celebrity magnet of a pastor who brought the global megachurch Hillsong from Australia to the United States, has been fired, acknowledging on Instagram that he cheated on his wife. The leader of Hillsong NYC, who once ministered to Justin Bieber and a bevy of other celebrities and sports stars, wrote: "When you lead out of an empty place, you make choices that have real consequences. I was unfaithful in my marriage, the most important relationship in my life and held accountable for that." Lentz and wife, Laura, who met as students at Hillsong's training college in Sydney, arrived in New York in 2010 to spread the church's style of mass gatherings, a slick online reach and Grammy-winning Christian rock music throughout the United States. The church is popular among millennials and others. The couple lives in Montclair, N.J. They married in 2003 and have three children. Brian Houston, a global senior pastor and founder of Hillsong, said in a message to the church's East Coast congregants Wednesday that Lentz was fired "following ongoing discussions in relationship to leadership issues and breaches of trust, plus a recent revelation of moral failures." Lentz took full responsibility for his behavior leading to his split with Hillsong and said he's now seeking to rebuild the trust of his family. Houston provided no additional details about the cause but wished Lentz and his family well.
