Crash kills woman in Howard County

A 39-year-old Hot Springs woman was killed in a one-vehicle crash Saturday morning in the Howard County town of Umpire, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

Soundra Rivers was a passenger in a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe on Arkansas 84 at 8:57 a.m. when the vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign, crossed U.S. 278 and struck an embankment, the report said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the report, two people were injured in the crash: Shane House, 30, of New Hope, who was the driver; and Michael Hunt, 42, of Little Rock.

Conditions were cloudy and wet at the time of the crash, the report said.
