Tichnor, circa 1910: "Aunt Ollie school group in Tichnor school house." It seems likely teacher Aunt Ollie had taken the Arkansas County town's entire one-room school student population onto the lawn. What looks like an outhouse is on the left. At the time Arkansas had 9,500 teachers and more than 5,000 independent school districts with a school year averaging 107 days.
