Everton, 1912: W.M. Shults penned, "This is Asa Anderson standing here with me" at the Boone County town's post office. It opened in 1902 with the coming of the railroad and the town platting. Everton's claim to fame was the Uncle Sam Cob Pipe Works (1923-1942). It supplied pipes to the likes of Gen. Douglas MacArthur and New York Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia.
