• UNION HOPEWELL MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 1121 Persimmon St., will commemorate its 150th church anniversary at 11 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1. The church was built in 1870, rebuilt in 1967 and is still standing strong, a spokesman said. The community is invited to attend. The Rev. Antonio Gayden is the pastor.

• ST. JOHN AME CHURCH, 1117 W. Pullen St., will celebrate its 152nd anniversary virtually at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8. The featured speaker will be Bishop Michael L. Mitchell, presiding prelate of the 12th Episcopal District of AME churches. The celebration is hosted by the anniversary and history committee with the Rev. Cecil L. Williams Jr., the host pastor, and Bunia Baxter, as the chairperson. The anniversary will showcase this year's honorees who will be placed on the church's Pioneer Wall alongside past anniversary honorees from 2014 to the present. • NEW ST. HURRICANE MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH and the Hurricane HYPE Center, 3319 S. Ohio St., invites the community to its fall festival and drive thru trunk or treat. Events will be held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. Elementary and middle school age children may enter the Most Creative Costume Contest. Families may enter the Family Pumpkin Carving Contest. • MT. NEBO MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH of Pine Bluff will observe the sixth annual Breast Cancer Event in memory of Billie Jean "B.J."Jackson. The virtual event will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 31, via Zoom. Attendees are encouraged to wear pink, according to a news release. The observance will raise awareness, encourage early detection and celebrate survivors. There will be survivor testimonies, speakers and prizes. T-shirts can also be ordered. A 2K walk run is also included and participants should log on to Zoom from 9-9:45 a.m. and get moving by walking, running, skipping, jumping rope or dancing. • ST. LUKE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 32 School St., will host its annual Taste of Fall as a drive-thru and pick-up event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 14. Participants may pre-order goods by Saturday, Nov. 7. The Taste of Fall items will include frozen main-dish and vegetable casseroles, chicken and dressing, pies, cakes, cookies, jams, jellies and canned beets, according to a news release. • WOMEN OF INFLUENCE ROCK -- RESET AND STILL ROCKING -- rescheduled plans for the 2020 Zoom conference Nov. 6-7. The theme is "Rise Up and Walk" from the scripture John 5:8, according to a news release. The free event will be held: Friday, Nov. 6 -- from 8-10 p.m. for boys and girls ages 13 to 18; Saturday, Nov. 7 -- from 9-11 a.m. for women ages 36 and up; from noon to 2 p.m. for women ages 26 to 35; and from 2:30-4:30 p.m. for women ages 19 to 25.
