Two Arkansas drivers killed in crashes

Two Arkansas drivers were killed in one-vehicle crashes Friday and Saturday on Arkansas roadways, according to Arkansas State Police preliminary crash summaries.

Mohammad Butt, 37, of Little Rock was driving a 2016 Toyota Tundra east on Arkansas 5 near Harrison Road in Benton, when he failed to negotiate a curve Friday about 7:50 p.m., a report said. His vehicle crossed the westbound traffic lane, left the roadway and struck a tree, according to the report.

The weather was clear, and the pavement was dry at the time of the crash, the report said.

On Saturday afternoon, a Corning man was killed in a crash in rural Clay County, according to a crash report.

George Wellman, 73, was traveling west on U.S. 62 in a 2003 Ford, when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a telephone pole about 12:45 p.m., the report said. The vehicle then rolled down an embankment and into tree, according to the report.

The weather was clear, and the pavement was dry at the time of the crash, the report said.
