GIRLS

Bergman 72, Elkins 45

Bergman turned on the offense over the final three quarters of play and advanced to today's championship game with a win over Elkins.

Maddy Holt had 18 points to lead a trio of players in double figures for the Lady Panthers (34-1), who turned a 12-11 deficit after one quarter into a 35-28 halftime lead. Bergman then outscored Elkins 22-10 in the third quarter and stretched its lead to a 57-38 margin.

Kessa Willis added 15 and Abby Hodges 11 for the Lady Panthers. Kingslee Kestner led Elkins with 12 points while Tiara Jackson and Kara Springston added 10 each.

Valley Springs 57, West Fork 36

Cayley Patrick had 22 points as Valley Springs rolled past West Fork and set up its fourth meeting with Bergman this season.

Valley Springs (25-7) took control in the second quarter, when it outscored West Fork 23-7 and turned a three-point lead into a 33-15 halftime cushion.

Halle Miller added 11 for Valley Springs, which plays Bergman at 4 p.m. today in the championship game. Lillian Hauser and Zoe Erickson each had nine for West Fork, which meets Elkins in a 10 a.m. third-place game.

Boys

Bergman 88, Elkins 47

Anthony Hodge had 22 points to lead a trio of Bergman players in double figures as the Panthers poured on the points and defeated Elkins.

Bergman (28-4) jumped out to a 28-15 lead in the first quarter and continued to pull away, leading 50-24 at halftime before outscoring the Elks 31-11 in the third quarter for an 81-45 cushion.

Kaden Potter scored 16 of his 18 points in the second half for Bergman, while Walker Patton added 13. Aiden Underdown had 16 points to lead Elkins, followed by Josh Allan with 11 and Kain Johnson with 10.

Cedarville 55, Waldron 53

Lane Hightower hit a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left as Cedarville defeated a Waldron team that had knocked off the Pirates twice during the regular season

Hightower had been scoreless until the fourth quarter, then hit a pair of 3-pointers as Cedarville (16-10) outscored Waldron (24-6) 13-10 in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs went for the win at the buzzer but Caden Fuller's 3-pointer was too long.

Austin Cluck had seven 3-pointers and finished with 23 points for Cedarville, but he didn't score in the fourth quarter. Jaden Hutchens had 19 points for Waldron, followed by Gavlen Wagner with 15 and Isaac Villareal with 12.

Class 1A Region 1

at Lead Hill

Boys

County Line 56, Ozark Mountain 48

County Line's balance was too much for Ozark Mountain as four players finished in double figures and helped the Indians advance to the championship game.

County Line made its move in the third quarter when it outscored Ozark Mountain 15-4 and turned a 26-23 halftime lead into a 41-27 cushion.

Aundrae Milum and Kelby Rudd had 12 points apiece to lead the Indians, followed by Anthony Vaughn with 11 and Drake Pierce with 10. Zach Bolin finished with 22 points and was the only Ozark Mountain player in double figures.

The New School 54, Lead Hill 28

The New School jumped out to a 16-6 lead and was never seriously threatened as the Cougars rolled past host Lead Hill.

Evan Goldman had 15 points to lead New School, which led 29-15 at halftime and 40-23 after three quarters, while Macheal Hardiman and Holden Blankenship each added 10 points. Pierce Marshall led Lead Hill with eight points.

Girls

Kingston 54, Jasper 37

Kingston jumped out to a 13-3 lead in the first quarter and never allowed Jasper to recover as the Lady Yellowjackets moved on to today's championship game.

Melia Johnson had 14 points for Kingston, which led 25-15 at halftime and 41-23 after three quarters. Brooke Villines was a close second with 13 and Hannah Johnson added 12.

Aubrey Henderson was the only Jasper player in double figures with 11 points.

Ozark Mountain 53, Lead Hill 45

Kaleena Ricketts had 15 points as Ozark Mountain outlasted host Lead Hill and moved onto today's championship game.

The Lady Bears trailed 10-8 after one quarter, but took a 23-19 lead at halftime and a 40-37 cushion after three quarters.

Jailyn Jackson added 13 for Ozark Mountain, which will play Kingston at 4 p.m. today. Kelsey Rogers had 33 points for Lead Hill, which plays Jasper in a third-place game at 10 a.m.

PREP BASEBALL

Bentonville West 11, Greenbrier 0

Luke Schonauer and Miles Holmquist each belted two-run singles during a six-run first inning as West rolled past Greenbrier in a game played Friday at Rogers Heritage's new field.

The outburst was all the Wolverines (3-0) needed as Rogers Alexander and Ashton Yarbrough combined for a two-hitter. Alexander allowed just one hit and struck out four through 2.1 innings, while Yarbrough had 2.2 innings and struck out two while allowing one hit.

West forced the 10-run rule into effect with a four-run fourth. Schonauer and Holmquist each had two hits and three RBIs, while leadoff hitter Ty Durham had two hits and scored twice.

West returns to Heritage to take on Batesville at 1:30 p.m. today.

PREP SOFTBALL

Bentonville High 6, Vilonia 2

Kenzie Derryberry's two-run triple snapped a 2-2 tie and led Bentonville to a season-opening victory Friday at Vilonia.

Derryberry's blast to center field came after Tallulah Pascucci walked and Emily Perry reached on an error. McKenzie Vaughan then doubled to drive in Derryberry and make it a 5-2 game.

Vaughan picked up the win in the circle as she allowed two runs on two hits and struck out eight in a 92-pitch outing. Trista Peterson, Sara Watson and Rachel Pederson each drove in a run for the Lady Tigers.

Gravette 10, Rogers Heritage 0

Brooke Handle threw a no-hitter and Taylor Neustel had two hits and drove in three runs as Gravette defeated Heritage in non-conference action at the Lady War Eagles' new field.

Handle needed just 72 pitches through five innings as she struck out four, with Heritage's only baserunner reaching on an error.

The Lady Lions scored two runs in each of the first two innings, then pulled away with a four-run fourth. Brynne Romine had two hits and scored twice, while Keeley Easea had three hits and droe in a run. Handle helped her cause by driving in two runs.

Rogers High 10, Berryville 0

Madison Heinle allowed no hits through four innings and drove in two runs as Rogers earned a win at home over Berryville.

Leadoff hitter Emma Kate Jackson gave Heinle all the offense she needed when she belted a solo home run in the first inning. Heinle then struck out 12 batters before giving way to Ella Beeman.

Heinle had two hits, while Jenna Williams also had two hits and drove in two runs for the Lady Mounties.

Paris 4, Dardanelle 2

Jadyn Hart had three hits, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs out of the leadoff position as Paris defeated Dardanelle in nonconference action.

Hart singled and scored on a passed ball in the first inning, and the Lady Eagles added three more in the third for a 4-0 lead.

Hart was also the winning pitcher as she allowed two runs on six hits while striking out 17. Karsyn Tencleve added two hits and scored a run for the Lady Eagles.

Waldron 7, Magnolia 3

Waldron fought its way out of an early 3-0 hole as the Lady Bulldogs defeated Magnolia in nonconference action.

Waldron scored two runs in each of the first three innings, then added a solo tally in the fourth. Jayden Manning and Saige Mahar drove in two runs apiece for the Lady Bulldogs, while Ashton Young had two hits and drove in a run.

PREP SOCCER

Girls

Bentonville West 4, Claremore, Okla. 2

Freshman Tianna Jones scored three goals to lead Bentonville West past Claremore.

Senior Tara Garringer added the other goal for the Lady Wolverines, who bounced back from a 4-0 loss to Owasso, Okla., earlier in the day.

Fayetteville 8, Van Buren 0

Eight girls scored on Friday when Fayetteville blasted Van Buren.

The Fayetteville goals were scored by Lauren Magre, Haley Woodward, Maddie Wilburn, Carson Wasmilller, Kylie Mollner, Mackenzie Gulledge, Kate Bishop, and Caroline Bertaloto.

Harrison 1, Berryville 0

AnnaKate Baker scored in the second half to give Harrison a nonconference victory over Berryville.

Harrison (1-1) had 20 shots on goal while Berryville managed just one as Sydney Hobson recorded the shutout.

Boys

Fayetteville 0, Van Buren 0

Fayetteville and Van Buren played to a scoreless tie Friday.

Harrison Ennis had 11 saves for the Bulldogs.

Berryville 6, Harrison 0

Berryville jumped out to a 4-0 halftime cushion and went on to post a nonconference victory over Harrison.

The Bobcats had 21 shots on goal in the contest, while Harrison (0-2) managed just five.
