The Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Library System will host a library board of trustees meeting at the new library at 5:15 p.m. today, according to a news release.

Fordyce vaccination clinic set Friday

Mass covid-19 vaccination clinics will be held weekly at one location in each of the Arkansas Department of Health's five public health regions across the state.

Financial literacy focus of web event

A free webinar, Financial Literacy 101, will be presented via Zoom from 10-11:15 a.m. Saturday by Cedean Kematick, according to a news release.

Gamma Psi Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. ®, graduate chapter Delta Omega Omega and First Sisters Outreach Inc. will host the event.

Veterans legal clinic this week in PB

The Pine Bluff Veterans Legal Clinic will be open from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at the Pine Bluff First Assembly Life Center – West Campus, 3206 S. Hazel St. Walk-ins are welcome. A mask or face covering is required and social distancing guidelines are followed, according to a news release.

Arkansas veterans who need help can speak to a lawyer. Veterans can receive free consultations on issues including family law, consumer protection law, landlord tenant, public benefits and criminal record sealing.

Representatives from the Center for Arkansas Legal Services (CALS), Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs and the Little Rock VA Medical Center's Justice Outreach Program will be available to consult with veterans. Areas to close for feral hog operation

Trusten Holder, Freddie Black Choctaw Island, Cut-Off Creek and Seven Devils wildlife management areas will be closed to daytime public access until Saturday.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service Wildlife Services, in cooperation with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, will be conducting aerial operations aimed at reducing feral hog populations on the areas. The flights will be dependent on the weather, according to a news release.

For the public's safety and to comply with USDA regulations, access will not be allowed during ongoing operations.
