Officers say drugs found in traffic stop

Jacksonville police arrested two people on drug charges Friday night during a traffic stop at 1001 S. Redmond Road, according to arrest reports.

Officers stopped the vehicle driven by Heather George, 41, of Jacksonville about 8:30 p.m. and arrested her and passenger Stephonne Easter, 45, also of Jacksonville after a K9 officer alerted on the vehicle, the reports said.

A search of the vehicle turned up marijuana, methamphetamine, a digital scale and a pipe, according to the report.

Both women were taken to the Pulaski County jail. Easter was being held in lieu of $7,500 bond Saturday night. George was not on the jail's roster late Saturday.

Both are charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanor possession of marijuana and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

George is charged with an additional count of felony possession of drug paraphernalia.

Report: Man jailed in car theft, chase

A Little Rock man led North Little Rock police on a high-speed chase Friday afternoon in a vehicle that had been reported stolen, according to an arrest report.

An officer attempted to stop the vehicle near 4607 E. Broadway, but the vehicle sped up with officers in pursuit on U.S. 70. The vehicle eventually struck another vehicle in the 6600 block of U.S. 70, the report said.

William Burris, 50, got out of his vehicle and ran, the report said. He was arrested at 4604 E. Broadway, according to the report.

Police determined that the Mercedes he was driving and the license plate on it were reported stolen in Little Rock, the report said. Officers found methamphetamine and a scale inside the vehicle, the report said.

Burris was taken to the Pulaski County jail where he was being held in lieu of $15,000 bond, charged with felony fleeing, felony theft by receiving, felony possession of methamphetamine with purpose, felony possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor theft by receiving.
