Shot in head kills driver; suspect caught

CLARKSVILLE -- Authorities have arrested a man in the execution-style shooting of a driver as the vehicle sat in a restaurant drive-through lane Friday night, according to a Police Department news release.

Authorities believe the gunman was sitting in the rear passenger seat at the time, the news release said.

Officers were sent to the McDonald's restaurant at 1232 South Rogers St. at 8:48 p.m. where they found a man in a vehicle with a gunshot wound, the release said.

The victim, who hadn't been identified as of Saturday evening, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.

Police learned after a shot was fired, a rear-seat passenger fled from the vehicle.

City police, assisted by officers with the Arkansas State Police, Johnson County Sheriff's Office, and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, were able to find the suspect and make the arrest, the release said.
