Despite recently receiving a scholarship offer from the University of Arkansas, Bryant junior defensive lineman TJ Lindsey still chose to participate in the Hogs' football camp on Saturday.
Lindsey, who received his offer from the Razorback on June 10, saw the camp as an opportunity to get to know and work with defensive line coach Deke Adams.
"I just wanted to work out with Coach Adams," Lindsey said. "See how he was, see how he coached, see what he had to say to me about how I can get better and how he would get me better. I liked what he told me."
He's seen his stock quickly rise with his first Division I offer from from Memphis on May 10, and since then has added others from Colorado, Houston, Texas Tech, Georgia, the Razorbacks and most recently one from TCU.
Lindsey, 6-4, 270 pounds, is explosive off the ball and shows above average speed for a lineman of his size which allows him to chase down quarterbacks and running backs.
Adams came away even more impressed with Lindsey after seeing him in camp.
"He thinks I have a lot of natural talent which I agree with and he can polish it," Lindsey said.
He recorded 44 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 19 quarterback hurries and 1 pass breakup as a sophomore, helping Bryant win its fourth consecutive Class 7A state title.
He also shined as a freshman in the state's highest classification and was a key to the Hornets winning the state title in 2020.
Lindsey isn't a stranger to Fayetteville. He visited the Razorbacks on Jan. 15 and for the football team's open practice on April 16 prior to attending the camp.
Saturday helped Lindsey get to know Adams better.
"I liked that we're starting to build a relationship," said Lindsey, whose father measures 6-6. "He's starting to know me deeper than football. That's really what it's about, because if I come up here it's going to be more than football."
Lindsey is eyeing two more visits in June and another trip to Fayetteville is a possibility next month.
"I'm going to Georgia on the 23rd and then Florida State on the 30th," Lindsey said. "I might come back up here in July and maybe Louisville in late July."
QB RECEIVES OFFER
Class of 2025 quarterback Quentin Murphy added another scholarship to his growing list of offers when he received one from the University of Arkansas after Saturday's camp.
"Getting an Arkansas offer means a lot, it's a dream come true," Murphy said. "Arkansas is my home, and to be a part of this a wonderful program is amazing. I have been staying humble and working hard for this. I just can't wait to be a part of it."
Murphy, 5-11, 180, of Joe T. Robinson had offers from Tennessee, Oregon, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Utah, Wisconsin and Auburn before attending Arkansas' camp.
"The camp was an amazing," Murphy said. "It was a big experience. I learned a lot today. Just can't wait to go back home and tell them about it and learn from it."
He worked in front of offensive coordinator Kendal Briles and offensive quality control analyst Mark Cala.
"He's a wonderful QB coach," Murphy said of Briles. "The best QB coach. I learned a lot from him today."
Murphy, who recorded 4.52 seconds in the 40-yard dash on Saturday, is humbled to have so many offers early in the recruiting process.
"It's wonderful, I'm just so blessed," he said. "I'm just blessed to receive offers. Dream come true."
