Rector, circa 1910: “Dry Kiln crew of the H.A. Bennett Heading Company.” The men likely used the mules to move logs into the mill where area hardwoods were converted to barrel staves and tool handles. Most of the vast surrounding hardwood bottom lands were cleared and converted to farms.
