Paul A. Birnbach Jr. passed Saturday, July 31, 2010 at UAMS, with friends and family by his side. Mr. Birnbach was a victim of a hit and run that occurred on the previous Monday. He died from injuries sustained because of that accident. He was the son of Paul A. Birnbach, Sr. and Leila Brown Birnbach. He graduated from Little Rock High School and served, from 1942 - 1946, in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. After serving in the Coast Guard, he went into partnership with his father and together, they farmed the family's land. Their former farm is now part of Little Rock National Airport complex. Paul was a lifelong member of St. Edward Catholic Church. He was a man who lived a simple, unassuming life and was adored by all who met him because of his humor, kindness, love for the outdoors, and humble manner. His main hobbies were hunting and fishing. He is survived by: his sister, Mary Birnbach Ballard, three nieces, Karen Hart, Melinda Ballard and Robyn Ziperski; and six grand nieces and nephews, Stephanie Hart, Michael Hart, Reese Allison, Andrew Ziperski, Laura Ziperski and Claire Ziperski; and many special friends including recently deceased Jack ("Bud") Jones. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 5th at 6 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00, both at Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth Funeral Home (5800 West 12th Street, Little Rock). Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 6th, at 10 a.m. at St. Edward Catholic Church, (801 Sherman Street, Little Rock) with Monsignor John F. O'Donnell as celebrant. Internment immediately thereafter at Calvary Cemetery (W. Charles Bussey Avenue, Little Rock).
