Roy L. "Coal Miner" Hardin

Roy L. "Coal Miner" Hardin, age 67, of Haskell, passed away Friday, July 30, 2010. He was born June 4, 1943 in Summit, Arkansas. Mr. Hardin worked for Midwest Casting and Wabash Alloys. He was a member of the Boilermakers Union and a Boy Scout with Troop 99 for over 30 years. Mr. Hardin was preceded in death by his parents, George S. and Ida Hardin; three brothers, Alfred S. Hardin, Charlie C. Hardin and Floyd A. Hardin and two sisters, Ethel Keene and Eunice Eakens. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Puckett Hardin of Haskell; three sons, William L. Hardin of Jacksonville, Florida, Steven D. Hardin of St. Louis, Missouri and Robert M. Hardin of Haskell; two daughters, Samantha Bevill of Malvern and Cassandra Ruddy of Benton; four sisters, Evalou Cash of Rawling, North Carolina, Aline Murphy of New Carlisle, Ohio, Carol Jean Allen of Bauxite and Nancy Ford of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Maverick, Savannah and Wesley Hardin and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 5 at Ashby Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Friday, August 6 at Ashby Funeral Home with burial at Summit Cemetery.
