Edward "Bud" Schneider

Panama City Beach, FL, 1924 - 2010

Brig. Gen. Edward "Bud" Schneider (USAF, retired), age 86, of Panama City Beach, Florida, formerly of Heber Springs, Greers Ferry, and Fort Smith, Arkansas, passed away Sunday evening, August 1, 2010, at his home. Born in Pryor, Oklahoma, on July 18, 1924, he was the son of the late Edward William Schneider and Bertha Lea (Treat) Schneider. He served his country proudly with distinction as a pilot in the United States Air Force for 40 years, including both World War II and the Korean War. During the Vietnam conflict, he was stateside serving as the Base Commander for 14 years with the 188th Tactical Fighter Group, Fort Smith, Arkansas, Air National Guard.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Schneider of Panama City Beach, Florida; his daughters, Carol Glidewell and her husband, Jim, of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Nancy Huett and her husband, Tom, of Thorsby, Alabama, Judy Roberts and her husband, Brad, of Canton, Georgia, and his daughters by marriage, Michele Horsey and her husband, Keith, of Roland, Arkansas, and Cherie Locke and her husband, Russell, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 6, at 10:30 a.m. at the Olmstead Chapel. Interment with military honors will follow at Cleburne County Memorial Gardens in Heber Springs.
