Joe L. Thompson

Mr. Joe L. Thompson, 84, of North Little Rock, died Wednesday, August 4, 2010. Joe was born January 13, 1926 in Scotland, Arkansas, to the late Edgar and Lizzie (Miller) Thompson. Mr. Thompson was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt and fish. He coached basketball at several different schools including, Big Flat, Center Ridge and Greenbrier. He worked for the Arkansas Rehab Service for a number of years as the area Supervisor. Mr. Thompson served in the US Army and was a WWII Veteran. He was a longstanding member of the Levy Church of Christ in North Little Rock. Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Mary Nell Thompson of 60 years; two children, Gregg Thompson of Sherwood AR and Doug (Lisa) Thompson of Fayetteville, Ark.; three brothers, John Thompson of Russiaville, Ind., Bill Thompson of Carthage, Texas and Marion Thompson of Sikeston, Mo.; and one sister, Ruth Bradley of Culpepper, Ark. He is also survived by five grandchildren; Tyler Joe, Megan, Lauren, Grace, and Samuel Thompson. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 7, 2010 in the Chapel of Griffin Leggett Funeral Home, 1751 Dave Ward Drive in Conway. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery in Conway.
