Unice H. Latimer

Unice H. Latimer, age 75, of Benton, died Monday, August 9, 2010 at his home in Benton. He was born in a small house in the Little River County (now the site of Millwood Lake) in Southwest Arkansas on March 5, 1935 to Unice and Annie Mary Latimer. He was a retired agriculture teacher, a Sunday school teacher, a song leader, and a deacon of Holland Chapel Baptist Church. He was a devout Christian, loved to engage in conversation, and never met a stranger. He loved his family and was always willing to share a story about his grandchildren. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Agriculture from Southern State University, a Master's degree in Agriculture from Stephen F. Austin, and a Specialist degree in Public Administration from the University of Arkansas. He was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, served on the Board of Directors of Farm Bureau, and judged many Swine Shows at the Arkansas State Fair. He took many students to various Livestock Shows and involved them in showing their livestock. He also took many students to competitions for Parliamentary Procedure. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Denzil Logan. He is survived by his wife, Delma Adams Latimer; two daughters, Carol Latimer Lambert (Richard) and Peggy Latimer Jacobs (Jimmie); three grandchildren, Candice and Caleb Lambert and Jana Jacobs; four step-grandchildren, Shane and Blaine Lambert and Jarred and Steven Jacobs all of Benton, and one sister, Eugenia Clay of Hot Springs Village. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in Benton (501-315-4047) with Dr. W.A. Dillard officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park in Alexander, Arkansas. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. till service time at the funeral home.
