Little Rock, AR, 1933 - 2010

Arthur Everett Leath, 77, of Little Rock, died on Wednesday, August 11, 2010. He was born on March 16, 1933 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, son of the late Arthur Ellsworth and Florence Lucy Kennedy Leath. He graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1951, and held a Bachelor's Degree in Geology which he received from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1960. He worked as CEO, Vice-President and General Manager for Holsum Baking Company in Pine Bluff. He retired in 1999 from the Department of Finance and Administration, Revenue Division, as the Administrator of the Office of Field Audit. He was President of the Arkansas Baker's Association, and a member of the American Society of Bakery Engineers, on the Board of Directors of the Salvation Army in Pine Bluff, a member of the Junior of Commerce in Pine Bluff, Chamber of Commerce in Pine Bluff Board of Directors, President of the Pine Bluff Kiwanis Club, Delegate for Arkansas to the Multistate Tax Commission. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, Air Force Aviation. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and New Challenges Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Marian Lee Carr Leath and his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Kay Bowen (Pat), of Little Rock; son, Tom Leath (Mary) of Conway; granddaughters Jenny Yancey (J.D.) and Mary Catherine Leath; grandsons Danny Leath and Justin Bowen; great-granddaughter Ava Yancey; great-grandson Peyton Yancey; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 14, 2010, at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Chapel, (501) 224-8300, with Reverend Fred Haustein officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
