Richard Stacy Walton, 49, of Bentonville, Ark. died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, in Bentonville. Stacy was a welcomed surprise to Kelly A. and Beatrice Brint Walton after 23 years of marriage on May 6, 1961, in Hope, Ark. His father died when he was nine, and he and his mom had a special relationship which lasted until her death in 2003. Stacy graduated from Hope High School with the class of '79 and then went to the University of Arkansas where he met many friends and had an active social life for two years. His mother thought going into the oil field, working for his Uncle Gus in Louisiana, would slow that down. After a couple of years of hard work, he decided to go back to college. He then went to SAU where he was the president of Sigma Pi Fraternity and "Brother of the Year" twice. Graduating with a business degree, he stayed in Louisiana working for South Central Bell and married his best friend Kahlynn McDowell. The couple, being Razorback fans, moved back to Northwest Arkansas in 1990 where Stacy went to work for Wal-Mart. He joked, having the name Walton did not hurt when he made phone calls on Wal-Mart's behalf. Twelve years later he left to seek a new career, having been the senior manager of the Star Complex with Butch Humes, and prior to that he was the telecommunications director. Stacy is survived by his wife, Kahlynn; and sons, Brint Kelly Walton and William Wallace Walton of the home. His sisters, Nena Butler and husband, Duck of Hot Springs and Pat Moore and husband, Bob of Bella Vista will miss his humor and words of wisdom that he was always expelling. Kahlynn's parents, Wallace and Alicia McDowell of Hope; and brother, Martin McDowell and wife, Stephanie of Bentonville; and sister, Teresa Getchell of Jenks, Okla., were his family as much as the one into which he had been born. Many nieces and nephews will miss "Uncle Stacy's" "Stacy-isms" and funny sayings. Stacy owned Prudential Northwest Arkansas Real Estate where he had a great influence on the real estate community. He practiced real estate the right way, ethically and honestly. He is a member of Fellowship Bible Church in Rogers and was saved. He was also a member of the Rogers Board of Realtors and Kelly's Camp in Southwest Arkansas where he loved hunting in southwest Arkansas with his friends, cousins and the "Formby clan." He loved taking his sons fishing and hunting, and telling about their adventures. Stacy was a master story teller, and one would get all wrapped up in the stories he would tell. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 15, 2010, at Stockdale Funeral Chapel in Rogers. A celebration of his life will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 16, 2010, at Fellowship Bible Church of Northwest Arkansas in the main sanctuary. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be sent to any Arvest Bank for the "Stacy Walton Memorial Fund" for his son's education. Arrangements are by Stockdale Funeral Services of Rogers. Online condolences may be made at stockdalefuneral.com.
