Doretha Vining McBride

Doretha Vining McBride, age 97, of Eudora, died Thursday, Aug. 12, 2010, at Lake Village Rehabilitation Care Center. She was born Aug. 5, 1913, in Smith County, Miss., the daughter of the late Charles S. Runnels and Mary Jane Adcock Runnels. She was a homemaker and a member of New Hope Baptist Church since 1963 and a long-time resident of Eudora in the Wellford Community. She wrote the local news in the Spectator and the Eudora Enterprise for over 50 years and was a member of the Arkansas Homemakers Extension Club where she earned a 50 year pin and Certificate of Achievement with the Homemakers Club. She was a member of the Share Group in the Wellford Community and enjoyed attending their monthly meetings. She was preceded in death by her first husband, T. C. Vining Sr. and her second husband, Wade McBride and six brothers, Hebron Runnels, Horrace Runnels, Charles Runnels, Cordis Runnels, Audie Runnels and Howard Runnels. She is survived by one son, T. C. Vining Jr. and wife, Nancy, of Russellville; three grandchildren, Thomas Jeffrey Vining and wife, Nancy Lynn, of Stephenson, Va., John Wesley Vining and wife, Monique, of Russellville, and Angela Vining of Grand Prairie, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Mackenzie and Caleb Vining and Bethany and John Luke Vining; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 9 a.m. Tuesday until service time at New Hope Baptist Church on Hwy. 8 West, Eudora. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Thomas Christmas and Rev. Sanders Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery under the direction of Bishop Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Baptist Church or Mt. Carmel Cemetery in her memory.
