S.J. "Jimmy" Clark, 86, of Hamburg, died peacefully at his home, Wednesday, August 18, 2010, surrounded by his wife, daughters and caregiver, Marilyn. Mr. Clark was a native and lifelong resident of Hamburg and he was a veteran of the United States Army having served during World War II. He was a Baptist. He was the owner and operator of Deep South Construction Company, Inc., for 30 years and his employees knew him as "Chief". He was a member of the Associated General Contractors and he served on the Board of Directors at Farmers Bank and Commercial Bank in Monticello. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved going to Woodstock Island in Mississippi to hunt and visit with his many friends. He also traveled to Colorado and New Mexico to elk hunt. His New Mexico guides honored him as being the oldest hunter at age 80. When he could no longer walk to get to the elk, his guide would camouflage the truck and let him shoot from the hood of the truck. It was nothing for him to kill an elk from 300 yards. He was known for killing the first legal elk he saw. He could be quoted as saying, "I won't be going home empty handed and people asking what did you kill and me saying nothing". He has all his horns on display in his "trophy" room and carport. He gave his beloved Weatherby 300 to his oldest grandchild, Joseph. He will most be remembered as a loving husband, daddy, granddaddy and friend to many. The real love of his life was his wife and his three girls. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. He was the best daddy a girl could wish for. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann "Prissy" Clark in 2001; his parents, Velma & Kittie Riley Clark; a brother, Carroll Clark and a sister, Mary Sue Clark. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Lee Kelley Clark of Hamburg; three daughters, Sandra Morton and husband, Dickey, Susan Jasay all of Hamburg and Kelley Jo Miles of Monticello; seven grandchildren, Joseph, Jonathan, Julie and James Morton, Anna Jasay, Jodi and Joey Miles. Funeral services are 10 a.m., Saturday, August 21 at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating. Burial will be in the Hamburg Cemetery. Pallbearers are Sam Angel, Herman Hamilton, Eddie Rector, Mike Jasay, Randy Evans, Bobby Griffin and Frank Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Woodstock Hunting Club. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 352, Hamburg, Ark. 71646. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg. Online guest book at www.jones-hartshorn.com.
