Addie Lee Charles-Copeland, 64, of McGehee, died August 21, 2010. Addie Lee Charles-Copeland was born September 1, 1945 in Star City, Arkansas to the late Charlie and Mary Charles. She confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at St. Ollie Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Daniel Williams. She remained a faithful member and continued her religious work there under the leadership of Rev. Melvin Harrison, serving as an usher and kitchen committee Chairman. Addie received her education at Lincoln high school in Star City, Arkansas in 1967. She went on to receive a Bachelors of Science degree in Education at AM&N College/University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff in 1971. She later retired from teaching in 2005 after 34 years of service.
She leaves to cherish her memories her son Micheal (Stephanie) Copeland of Little Rock, Ark.; four grandchildren: Micheal Faruki Copeland II, Mikeala Ja'Von Copeland and Micheal "DB" Copeland IV (special friend and mother Javonnia Copeland) of Pine Bluff, Ark. and Braxton Copeland of Little Rock, Ark.; two sisters; Hazel (Alvin) Hayes of Peoria, Ariz. and Ernestine (Johnny) Rochell of Star City, Ark.; three brothers; Wesley (Alice) Charles of Warren, Ark., Joe (Gwendolyn) Charles of Pine Bluff, Ark. and Romer Lee Charles of Star City, Ark.; caregiver and niece, Brenda Hegler; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Special long time friends; Tyree and Betty Oats of 40 years; Ruthie Smith, Vernesta Jakes, Doris Glover and (the twins), Lolita Lawson and Melveta Henry.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 28, 2010; 10:30 a.m. at the Star City High School Auditorium with the Rev. Sherman Rochelle Jr., Officiating.Burial in St. Ollie Cemetery in Meroney.
