Arthur Alvin VanderVeen Sr.

Arthur Alvin VanderVeen Sr. died on July 26, 2010, in Lynchburg, Va. He was 79. Art was born on August 16, 1931, in Cicero, Ill., to Lucia and Alvin VanderVeen. Art is survived by his wife, Bettye; daughter Terry and her husband Matt Bright, and grandchildren Connor, Natalie, and Jessica Bright of Lynchburg; son, Arthur Jr., his wife Deanna, and granddaughter Lauren of New York City; sister Bonnie and husband John Van Prooyen of Scottsdale, Ariz; and sister-in-law, Hildi VanderVeen of Wheaton, Ill. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 1215 VES Road, Lynchburg, Va., on Sunday, July 29, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages family and friends to make donations to their local hospice, in recognition of the tremendous care and support provided to Art by Centra Hospice of Lynchburg.
