Clarence James Hoag, 70, of West Helena, Arkansas passed away Thursday, August 26, 2010 at his home. Mr. Hoag was born October 17, 1939 in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late George R. Hoag and the late Helen Williams Hoag. He was the pastor at Seventh Day Adventist Church in West Helena. He served for 46 years in the ministry, including as a school teacher for two years, religious literature salesman for 12 years and pastor for 32 years. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Betty Latimer Hoag; a son, Timothy Hoag (Kristine) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; three daughters, Sharon Carpenter (Steven) of Damsacus, Arkansas, KariThompson (Pat) of Rapid City, South Dakota, and Erin Redic (Kenneth) of Conway, Arkansas; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Beverly Stern of Ooltewah, Tennessee; nieces, Becky Curtis (Doug) and Sherry Stern, both of Ooltewah; nephew, Rick Stern (Shelly) of Ooltewah; special friend, James Simmons of Siloam Springs, Arkansas; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many, many friends. Services for Clarence Hoag will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, August 30, 2010 at Seventh Day Adventist Church, 8700 N. Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock, Arkansas 72205. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m. at Roller-Citizens in West Helena. Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery in Greenbrier, Arkansas.
