Donna Simpson Spaulding

Donna Simpson "Dixie" Spaulding, was born January 6, 1913 in Huntsville, Arkansas and departed this life November 29, 2010. She taught grades 1-8 in a one-room school, then became secretary of the county extension service. She married Dr. Joe P. Spaulding on June 1, 1941, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband; a son, Joe Spaulding Jr., and wife Carol; a daughter, Francene Goss and husband Gary; six grandchildren, Mike Spaulding, Coby Goss, Dawn Clevenger, Whitney Festervand, Taryn Lewis and Tony Roncketto; and 11 precious great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Bess Simpson; a brother, Wayne Simpson; an infant daughter, Betty Lynn; a grandson, Kent. She was the secretary to the president of Central Christian College in Bartlesville, Oklahoma; registrar of Bartlesville High School; and a secretary in the athletic department at Oklahoma University. She and her husband were members of Sojourners, which took them on many mission trips throughout the U.S. They made three trips to Europe, the Far East, and Greece. She was a devoted member of the Church of Christ, loved her Lord, her family, and her many friends. Funeral services are Friday, 2 p.m. at the Romance Church of Christ. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Powell Funeral Home of Searcy.
