Opal Fern (Helton) Brewer, 85, of Conway, passed away Monday, November 29,2010. She was born on Wednesday, April 22, 1925 in Denning, Arkansas to the late James A. and Dollie (Moody) Helton. She was a homemaker and worked at Shorty's Bar-B-Que before retirement. She was a member of the Arkansas Lost Cherokee Tribe and a member of Primitive Baptist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who loved her family. A special time for her was to cook and serve Sunday dinner to her family. She was an avid quilter and needle worker, which were very beautiful. She is survived by her son, Larry J. and Marguerite Brewer; four grandchildren, Larry Allen Brewer, Ronnie Brewer, Benjamin and Leah Brewer, and Connie and Jeff White; three great-grandchildren, Bailey and Olivia Brewer, and Callie White; two sisters, Irene Posey, and Mary Alice Helton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Benjamin L. Brewer; five brothers, Nellie Lafay Helton, Arnold Helton, Pat Helton, Nathan Helton, and Pete Helton; and two sisters, Dovie Speights and Callie Mae Lachowsky. Services will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Roller-McNutt Funeral Home, Conway with Elder Frank Blair. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery with Ronnie Brewer, Benjamin Brewer, Jeff White, William L. Martin, Danny W. Helton, and Lewis Moore. Larry Allen Brewer, Billy Ralph Helton, Leon Helton, Harold Helton, and Jimmy Speights, will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, December 1, 2010.
