Robert Glenn Bauman

Robert "Glenn" Bauman, 63, of Stuttgart, passed away on Dec. 4, 2010. Glenn was born on September 30, 1947, in Stuttgart to the late Leon Troy Bauman and Luna Rose Almond Bauman. This extraordinary man lived for sixty-three years and in those years gave selflessly of his time and energy. Glenn was a devoted follower of Christ, a family man, banker, Veteran, dear friend to many and community leader. His passions were spending time with his family and fly fishing in north central Arkansas, especially near his treasured fishing cabin. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Stuttgart, was a member of the choir and served on the Finance and Personnel Teams. He served as a senior vice president of the Farmers and Merchants Bank of Stuttgart for nearly thirty years, touching many lives in the community. In that time period, Glenn served on several professional committees including those of the Arkansas Bankers Association and the American Bankers Association. In 2005, he was invited to serve on the American Bankers Association's Agricultural and Rural Bankers Committee, a committee with origins dating to 1911. Glenn was a graduate of Southwestern Graduate School of Banking, Southern Methodist University (1986) and the National Commercial Lending School, University of Oklahoma (1991). He also attended Arkansas State University, in Jonesboro, from 1965-68 and 1971-72. Glenn served his beloved country by joining the United States Air Force in 1968 with the 9th Air Commando Squadron at Pleiku, South Vietnam. While participating in aerial combat flight over Vietnam, he was awarded four United States Air Medals, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry, and an Air Force Accommodation Medal. Glenn served his community in many aspects including, but not limited to the following: Stuttgart Kiwanis Club – past President; Stuttgart Chamber of Commerce – past President; Grand Prairie Job Center – past Chairman; Stuttgart Industrial Development Corporation – past Vice-Chair; past Co-chair of the World Championship Duck Calling Contest; Bellpoint Independent Living – Board of Directors; Grand Prairie Child Development Center-Easter Seals of Ark; and numerous other accolades. Glenn adored his family very much. He was a loving husband, son, father, step-father, "grand-daddy", brother, uncle, cousin and nephew. Cherishing his memory are his wife, Micki Fox Bauman; mother, Luna Rose Bauman; children, Kristin Jones and husband Brandon, Jennifer Deitrick and husband Charles, all of Little Rock, and Candace Davis and husband Terry of Maumelle; step-children, David Erstine and Chris Erstine of Fayetteville; siblings, Ronnie Bauman and wife Nita, Pat Cole and husband Stacy of Ft. Worth, Sheila Whatley and husband Steve of Hot Springs; five grandchildren, Ashton and Kaden Jones, Lainey and Bailey Deitrick, and Braden Davis; three nephews and three nieces; several other relatives and close friends; and his dog, Little Buddy. A memorial service is planned for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 7th at First Baptist Church of Stuttgart located at 2115 S. Prairie Street, Stuttgart, Ark. 72160, (870) 673-6952. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Stuttgart, the Grand Prairie Child Development Center or the Grand Prairie Job Center.
