James M. Fisher, 85, of Lonoke ascended to heaven on December 6, 2010. Survivors are his wife of 64 years, Ruby West Fisher, daughter, Jaynie Fisher McClain and husband James of Lonoke, granddaughter Mandilynn McClain of Beaumont, Texas, sisters, Gertrude Burks of Sherwood, Faye Barham, Hazel Fisher, and Lois Hardy, all of Cabot, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Edna Mae Wise. He was a member and deacon emeritus of Lonoke Baptist Church. He accepted Christ at age 55, on March 8, 1981. His salvation made a changed man out of him! He and momma read their Bible every morning at breakfast, covering two chapters before starting their day. He was an Army veteran of WWII, both the European and Pacific theaters. Afterwards, he worked for the Lonoke Chevrolet dealership as Service manager, or as he often called it "Circus Manager"! until he was fed up! Remington Arms had just opened its new ammunition factory at Lonoke and he made a career change that gave him and his family retirement, health insurance, and security. Funeral Services will be Thursday, December 9 at 1:00 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sylvania Cemetery in Ward (Austin). Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
