Ricky Frizzell

Ricky Frizzell died December 6, 2010 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was born November 24th, 1943 in Hot Springs to the late Earl and Pauline Jones Frizzell. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joyce Wray Frizzell, two sons, Richie (and Melinda) Frizzell of Glenwood, Arkansas, Russell Hugh (and William Carlton) Frizzell of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and two grandchildren, Natalie Grace and Jacob Earl Frizzell of Glenwood, Arkansas. Ricky was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas but his church home and his heart was the First United Methodist Church in Gurdon, Arkansas. Ricky was a graduate of Gurdon High School. He attended Henderson State University in Arkadelphia. He was a true Go-Devil whose blood ran purple and gold. He began working for his dad and his uncle Hugh when he was just a young boy at Frizzell Brothers Lumber Company in Gurdon. He later joined the company as a full time employee after he married the love of his life Joyce in 1965. Ricky was a former mayor of Gurdon, a member of the First Reorganized Quorum Court of Clark County, President of the Hoo-Hoo Lumbermans Club, President of the Rotary Club of Gurdon, two time Chairman of the Board of Stewards at Gurdon First United Methodist Church, and lay speaker and Sunday School teacher of the men's Bible Class at Gurdon First United Methodist. He also founded Arkansas Land and Timber Company and was a wholesaler of hardwood lumber. While there will be no visitation service, the funeral will be held at Gurdon First United Methodist Church at Gurdon, Arkansas on Thursday, November 9th at 10 a.m. with graveside service at Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon following the funeral. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in memory of Ricky Frizzell to the Cabe Public Library, 204 East Walnut, Gurdon, Ark. 71923. Arrangements are by Hot Springs Funeral Home.
