Bobby Joe Taylor

Bobby Joe Taylor, 75, of Sherwood, died Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at home. He was born February 21, 1935 in Pine Bluff, son of Aaron and Mable Hale Taylor. Mr. Taylor was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff, graduating from Watson Chapel High School Beginning in Pine Bluff, he worked for Trans-Texas Airways and Continental Airlines, for 35 years, retiring as manager, then working for Southwest Airlines for 12 years as manager. Mr. Taylor was a former member of Matthews Memorial Baptist Church in Pine Bluff. He served on the board of directors of several organizations including Ronald McDonald House. Mr. Taylor was currently a member of Park Hill Baptist Church in Sherwood. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jamie Taylor. Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Spharler Taylor, whom he married June 25, 1954 in Greenville, Mississippi; two daughters, Mary (Mike) Mercer of Midlothian, Texas and Bobbie Anne Taylor of Grapevine, Texas; brother, Marvin (Wanda) Taylor of Pine Bluff; and two grandchildren, Jessica Lynn Rystad and Jamie Mercer. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, December 10, 2010 in the Chapel of Ralph Robinson & Son with Dr. Bob Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Fitzhugh Cemetery.
