Frieda Padgett Goodwin

Frieda Padgett Goodwin, 89, formerly of Little Rock, passed from this life into the loving arms of her Savior on Dec. 7, 2010, in Montgomery, Ala. Mrs. Goodwin was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Dr. Paul Goodwin, Baptist minister, her brother, Waymon Padgett, and her parents, Walter and Lily Mae Padgett. Survivors include her three children: Dr. Allen (Glenda) Goodwin, Ringgold, Ga.; David (Pamela) Goodwin, Montgomery, Ala.; and Ann (H.L.) Wilkinson, Lascassas, Tenn. Also surviving are five grandchildren: John Wilkinson, Sarah (Will) Anderson, Kate (Shawn) Birss, Jack Goodwin, and Laura Goodwin, and three great-grandchildren: Rowan Anderson, Elijah Paul Birss, and Grace Frieda Birss. Frieda was born on April 3, 1921, in Tuckerman, Ark., and born again as a teenager. Mrs. Goodwin was a loving, supportive, and positive wife and mother who gathered great satisfaction from those roles. She also was an avid fisherwoman, gardener, cook, seamstress, and reader. The Goodwin home was a welcome haven for missionaries from around the world and for newly-arrived foreign students to the Missionary Baptist Seminary. Services will be on Friday at 3 p.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock. Visitation with family will be during the hour prior.
