Carrol Lynch Ward, born January 15, 1936, in Fifty Six, Arkansas went home to his Lord and Savior on December 9, 2010. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lila Rose Ward; daughter Traci Ivey, husband Tread and grandson Kyle Harding, wife Nichole and great-grandson, Braeden Harding and granddaughters, Courtney and Lauren Oleson, son, Brian Ward, son, Scott Ward, wife Rita, and gradsons, Lance and Luke, son, Steve Ward and grandson, Cole Ward, his mother, Shanna Brafford, son, David Ward, wife, Stephanie and grandsons, Kaleb and Gunnar, brother, Von, wife Betty, brother, Fred, wife Joan, sister, Billie Simpson, husband, Lonnie as well as many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by; his parents, Carl and Cuba Ward, a brother, Kenneth Ward, a sister, Norma Jessen, a grandson, Corey Oleson. Carrol graduated from Mountain View High School and Arkansas Tech University. He coached basketball and taught at Timbo High School where he first met Lila Jean Rose. Years later, the two married and began raising their family together while Carrol began his career in law enforcement. He was Corporal with the Arkansas State Police for 24 years. After retirement in 1988, he was elected Van Buren County Sheriff, where he served until 1992 when he once again retired. Carrol enjoyed spending time at his deer camp, hunting and enjoying his grandkids, especially attending their many athletic events. He was a member of Clinton Parks and Recreation Committee for years. He was a founding member of the Rocky Hill Hunting Club. More recently, Carrol served on Governor Beebe's Criminal Detention Facilities Review Committee. He was a Baptist and his church family has been the First Baptist Church in Clinton.Pallbearers will be his grandsons Lance, Cole, Kaleb, Luke, and Gunnar Ward and great-nephew, Jake Hink. Funeral Services will be at First Baptist Church in Clinton, 2 p.m., Saturday, December 11, 2010, Pastor Robby Sherman officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, December 10, 2010 at Roller McNutt Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Roller-McNutt Funeral Home of Clinton, Arkansas.
