John "Papa" Floyd Jr., 93, of Little Rock, Arkansas went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 7, 2010. On January 10, 1917, in Cotton Plant, Arkansas he was born to the late Johnny and Lillie Collier Floyd. He confessed a hope in Christ in the early years of his life and joined the Macedonia Baptist in Little Rock under the leadership of Rev. Alf Bosley and later married the love of his life, Bernice Conway in 1954. He leaves to cherish his wonderful memories: his loving and devoted wife of 56 years Bernice Floyd; john fathered 14 children; five sons, Cleo Gray, Joseph (Delphine) Campbell, Fred (Stephanie) Floyd, Michael Floyd all of Little Rock, Arkansas and Freeman (Cornelius) Floyd of Wrightsville, Arkansas; eight daughters, Shirley Watkins, Carolyn Ashmore, Bobbie (Harold) Walls, Ella (Gill) Gilbert, Diane (Louis) Mack, Johnnie Floyd, Sarah Floyd and Coretha Floyd; a special son, Iverson Jackson of Wrightsville, Ark.; 53 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lorene Nelson of Brinkley, Arkansas; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. Home going services will be Tuesday, December 14, 2010, 11 a.m., at Temple of Restoration COGIC, 10610 Chicot Road, Little Rock, Ark. Interment will follow at Rest In Peace Cemetery, Hensley, Ark. Family hour will be Friday, December 13, 2010, 6-7 p.m., at Ruffin & Jarrett Funeral Home Chapel, 1200 Chester St., LR (501) 372-1305.
