JOHN WILLIAM LUEHRS, 71, was born in Dayton, Ohio, on Sept. 26, 1939, to Urban and Mary Luehrs. He joined God's choir of angels on Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, while vacationing in Negril, Jamaica. He was in the investment banking business for several years before his early retirement in 1991. His wife of 42 years, Sandra, survives John, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He also is the proud father of four children, Chris (Beatriz) Luehrs of Cheyenne, Wyo.; Mindy (Scott) Parker, Bradley (Angie) Luehrs, and Valerie Luehrs, all of Jacksonville, Ark. His great legacy was being "Papa John" to seven grandchildren, Tyler, Wyatt and Hannah Parker, Zachary Kye, Piper Luehrs, John David and Caleb Luehrs. His sister, Jeanne (David) Knapke of Dayton, Ohio, also survives him. Many nieces, nephews and much-caring friends are left behind as well. All will sincerely miss John. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents; a sister, Peggy Brinkmann; and one granddaughter, Shelby Luehrs. Visitation will be held at Moore's Jacksonville Funeral Home in Jacksonville, on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, from 5 until 9 p.m. The Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Jude The Apostle Catholic Church in Jacksonville on Monday, Dec. 13, 2010, at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Les Farley officiating.
