Jack Perdue, 80 of Pine Bluff, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010 in Pine Bluff. Born in Pine Bluff on May 7, 1930 as John Armer Perdue III, a son of the late John Armer Perdue Jr. and Elise Russell Perdue, he was reared and received his early education in Pine Bluff, attended Hendrix College, and graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity. He served in the US Army at Fort Bliss where he worked on the Skywarn radar system project with RCA system designers. Returning to Pine Bluff, he joined his father and uncle in the family printing and office supply business, The Perdue Company. He worked for Perdue's until the business was sold in 1990 and he retired in 1992. He was a member of the Pine Bluff Rotary Club, Greenback Investment Club, and was a member and Elder at Central Presbyterian Church. Jack enjoyed playing golf, boating, and later fishing, all of which he enjoyed with his many friends. Very skilled in working with his hands, as a young boy he built scale models of WWII vintage airplanes. As an adult he enjoyed flying remote controlled model aircraft. An avid reader, he recently revealed himself as a "closet watercolorist" when he showed a portfolio of his paintings. His survivors include his wife, Mary Alice "Ann" James Perdue, who he married in 1977; two daughters, Myra Perdue Baran and her husband, Mark of Little Rock, Ark., Rosemond Perdue of Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers, David R. Perdue of Pine Bluff and Richard M Perdue of Little Rock; and three grandchildren, CeCe Cranner, John Armer Perdue Baran, and Burette "Ret" Miller Baran. Services are Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. at Central Presyterian Church. The family will receive friends at Ralph Robinson & Son Monday evening from 4 to 6 p.m. The family requests memorials take the form of donations to Central Prebyterian Church or to the donor's favorite charity.
