Mrs. Margie Powell, 84, Hope, Arkansas, passed away December 10, 2010, at Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She was born Margie Miriam O'Neal in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, on December 23, 1925, to Ernest Paul and Norma Miriam O'Neal. She moved with her family back to Hope, Arkansas, in 1928, where her father a Hope native and mechanical engineer, created Arkansas Machine Specialty Company. Margie was a 1944 graduate of Hope High School. She attended Texas State College for Women at Denton, Texas, and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. On April 18, 1948, she married Kenneth V. Powell at First United Methodist Church in Hope. Margie was a dedicated housewife and mother who supported her husband's Air Force career; following him during assignments to Arizona, Alabama and Washington, D.C., until his retirement and they returned to Hope in 1971. She was a charter member of the Hope PEO chapter and remained a faithful member throughout her life. She loved music and was an enthusiastic member of First United Methodist Church Choir in Hope, and member of the Friday Music Club in Hope. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Colonel Kenneth V. Powell, USAF (Ret); her parents Ernest P. and Miriam O'Neal, and her brother F. Paul O'Neal. She Is Survived By Three Sons: Lloyd P. Powell and wife Joyce, Arkadelphia, Arkansas; Kenneth V. Powell Jr. and wife Greer, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Michael P. Powell and wife Jan, Arkadelphia, Arkansas; four grandchildren: Chris Powell; Laura Powell and Megan Powell; all of Arkadelphia, Arkansas and Sean Powell Tulsa, Oklahoma. Funeral Services: 2 p.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2010, First United Methodist Church, Hope, Arkansas, with Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Burial Memory Gardens Cemetery Hope.
