Oramae Pearson Cannon passed peacefully into the arms of her heavenly father with her family at her side at her home in the Greggton area on December 13, 2010. Born May 23, 1911 to May Barron Pearson and Shelby Marvin Pearson and reared in Little Rock, Arkansas, she graduated from Little Rock High School and attended Little Rock Business College prior to her marriage in February 1936 to John Lewis Cannon Jr. of Benton, Arkansas. Oramae worked as a secretary to the Arkansas Methodist Conference while her husband served as an Army Chaplain during WWII. Following the untimely death of her husband, Oramae worked for 25 years at First Federal Savings and Loan of Longview, Texas. She was an active member for 40 plus years at Greggton United Methodist Church serving as a member of the Board, Women's Society, teacher and various church committees. Since retiring she was a loyal Classic Care Volunteer at Good Shepherd Hospital Gift Shop. Her Devotion to her family and her faith were a shining example to those who knew and loved her. This beautiful lady lived a life of grace and devotion, and we, her family, are blessed to have been given this precious gift, known as mother, grandmother, and great-grandmommy. Family left to cherish her memory include her son John Lewis Cannon III and wife Effie of Auburn, Alabama and daughter Margaret Lynn Cannon Spencer of Longview, Texas; grandchildren: John Lewis Cannon IV and wife Leanna of Carrollton, Texas; Stephanie Lynn Cannon West and husband Ron of Birmingham, Alabama; Bradley Scott Spencer of Oklahoma; Dr. Bart Philip Spencer and wife Lori of Wichita Falls, Texas; and Lisa Lynn Spencer Romine and husband Tyler of Frisco, Texas; great-grandchildren: Caroline Cannon, Madeline Cannon, Marli West, Maddux Spencer, and McKena Spencer; and nephew, Dr. Marvin Loyd and wife Marilyn of Lake Village, Arkansas. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Chaplain Peeples and the ladies of the Heart's Way Hospice: Ashley, Kelly, Cathy, Chris, and Tracie and also to those who assisted in the daily care of our precious mother: Michi, Mary, Oletha, Faith, Loretta, and Peggy. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 12 noon, Friday, December 17, 2010, at Rader Funeral Home. Burial will be a private family graveside service in Little Rock, Arkansas conducted by the Rev. Jerry Anderson of Lufkin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Heart's Way Hospice, 1306 Pine Tree Rd., Longview, Texas 75604.
