Imogene Lane Spence

Imogene Lane Spence (July 19, 1920—December 9, 2010), 90, of Cabot died on December 9, 2010 after a short illness in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1939 she married her husband, Lester Carl Spence and together they carried on the family tradition of dairy farming. She was a member of the Sylvania Presbyterian Church where she was active as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the Women's Auxiliary. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband Lester Carl Spence. Also preceding her in death were her mother and father, Emma McRee Lane and Ernest Mims Lane, her sisters, Ruth Bass and Marguerite Allison; her brothers Thomas Lane, Arnett Lane and Charles Duke Lane. Survivors are her daughters, Glenda Fichtner of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Diane Grubbs of Arlington, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Whitney Wolf and Steve Rea of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Angela Kilpatrick and Lesley Ford of Arlington, Tennessee, along with her 14 great grandchildren who gave her much pleasure. She also leaves her sister Mora Lu Duke of Ward, Arkansas and brother Bobby Lane of Houston, Texas. She was happiest when having her family near. She was a devoted prayer warrior and felt that was the reason God had given her such a long life. She gave us a great example to follow and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Visitation will be Thursday, December 16, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Sylvania Presbyterian Church followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. Interment will be at the Sylvania Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Moore's Cabot Funeral Home (501) 843-5816. Please sign the online guestbook at www.moorescabotfuneralhome.com.
