Louise Reeves Norwood Brogon

Mrs. Louise Reeves Norwood Brogdon, longtime resident of McCrory, Arkansas, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Baptist Health in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was 81 years of age. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday evening at Thompson-Wilson Funeral home in McCrory with funeral services at 2 p.m. Sunday at the McCrory Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Galen Mason will officiate with Mr. Ellis Reeves assisting. Music will be provided by the Nazarene Church Choir accompanied by Mr. Paul Richardson. Interment will be in Fakes Cemetery near McCrory with Thompson-Wilson Funeral Directors of McCrory in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Brogdon was born in the Beards community in Woodruff County on September 22, 1929 to Tom and Genora McCue Reeves. She first attended Beards Community School and later was a 1947 graduate of McCrory High School. She was first married to Sidney Brooks Norwood and later to L.C. "Sonny" Brogdon, both of whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Brogdon served as the Woodruff County Treasurer for 20 years before her retirement. She was a faithful member of the McCrory First Nazarene Church where she taught Sunday School, was a member of the choir, served on every committee that needed her and cooked for every social gathering there. She was known as a caregiver to those in need, had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh with, not at, those around her. Even after she became a resident of Briarwood Nursing and Rehab, she would help the other residents that were not as agile as she was. The family commended the staff of Briarwood for the excellent care they gave their loved one. Survivors include one son and his wife, Christopher and Renee Norwood of Little Rock, one daughter, Gala Norwood of Little Rock, one step-son and his wife: Butch and Cathy Brogdon of McCrory, one step-son-in-law, Eugene Whitlow of Las Cruces, New Mexico, one step daughter and her husband, Mona and Charles Chilcutt of Dexter, Mo., three sisters, Florence Burton of Brinkley, Helen Smith and husband Billy Dave and Joyce Ball of McCrory, two grandchildren, Sydney Brooks Norwood of Fayetteville and Andrew Payne Norwood and wife Ashley of little Rock, eight step-grandchildren, Lori Byre and husband Greg, Todd Brogdon and wife Jessica, Shawn Whitlow, Grant Brogdon and wife Shree, Charla Lungdren and husband Eric, Christie Stone and husband Matt, Courtney Carmichael and husband Patrick and Chase Chilcutt as well as great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Andrew and Chris Norwood, Charles Chilcutt, Todd, Grant and Butch Brogdon. The family has requested memorials be sent to the McCrory Church of the Nazarene or any Alzheimer's Foundation.
