Anna Jewel Fryar

Anna Jewel Fryar of Briggsville died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the Dardanelle Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born August 12, 1928 to her late parents Anna A. Castleberry and Tommy H. Sullivan. She graduated from Fourche Valley High School, the University of Central Arkansas and did graduate study at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville. She was a member of Briggsville United Methodist Church (U.M.C.), the Eastern Star, and the Arkansas Retired Teacher Association. Her elementary teaching career spanned 39 years at public schools in Arkansas, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Missouri. She enjoyed teaching and had a positive influence on many young lives. In addition she enjoyed family, visiting friends, travel, and especially collecting and reporting the Briggsville news for the Yell County Record. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Udell Fryar. Survivors include two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Fred Ward of Modesto, Calif., Mary and Harvey Sharp of Kansas City, Mo.; three brothers and sisters-n-law, Thomas & Maggie Sullivan of Russellville, Ark.; Charles and Nina Sullivan of Van Buren, Ark.; Paul Sullivan of Briggsville, Ark.; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorials may be made to the Biggsville United Methodist Church 15042 West Hwy. 28, Briggsville, Ark. 72828. Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, December 30 at the Briggsville U.M.C. with the Rev. David Scroggins officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, December 29 at the Funeral Home in Danville. Pallbearers will be Terry Sullivan, Ron Sullivan, Joe Dishongh, Mark Sullivan, Brad Sullivan and Wesley Sullivan. Arrangements are under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home Danville, Ark.
