Charlene L. Bishop
Charlene Bishop died December 29, 2010. Mrs. Bishop was born in North Little Rock September 24, 1913 to James I. Lyon and Minnie Raper Lyon. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Currey A. Bishop. Mrs. Bishop graduated from Little Rock High School, Little Rock Junior College and Little Rock University after also attending Arkansas State Teachers College. She was a teacher in the Little Rock and Pulaski County School Districts. Mrs. Bishop was a devoted member of Winfield United Methodist Church for 85 years and served in many capacities including Administrative Council, Commission on Social Concerns chairman, Music Committee chairman, United Methodist Women treasurer, Friendly Visitors chairman and the Building Committee. Other interests and memberships included the Oak Leaf Garden Club, AARP, Retired Federal Employees and the Tuesday Bridge Club.
Mrs. Bishop had no immediate survivors but special loving friends include Mrs. Lynn Smith of Little Rock, Raymond and Sharon Cammack of Magnolia, Ben and Frances Donaldson of Perry, David Eastham of Searcy and June Cockrell of Shreveport, La.
Special thanks is extended to Dr. Claudia Tolleson and the staff at Parkway Village that cared for Mrs. Bishop in her final years. Services will be at Griffin Leggett Healey and Roth 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 30th, 2010 with burial at Roselawn Memorial Park.
