Chester Leon Stinnett, Jr., age 72, died peacefully in his sleep Christmas morning while visiting friends in Longview, Texas. Chet is a longtime resident of Texarkana, Texas having been born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 20, 1938 to Cleo and Chester L. Stinnett. Following his graduation in 1956 from El Dorado High School he attended Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas. In 1960 he earned the B.A. degree in chemistry. With an interest in chemistry and health care, he attended the University of Arkansas College of Pharmacy and in 1963 was awarded the B.S. in Pharmacy. Following graduation he acquired specialty training in institutional pharmacy and retail management. Chet practiced as a registered pharmacist in Arkansas, Texas, and Louisiana until 2008, at which time he retired so that he could spend more time with his numerous friends and interests in classic cars and other hobbies. Chet is survived by S. Wendell Hawkins, his companion and partner in life for 15 years. Arrangements are under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texarkana, Texas.
