Mavis E. Plummer, a warm, loving, and gentle woman of the South, died on Monday, June 29, 2010 at 91 years of age. She was preceded in death by her treasured husband of 64 years, Roy, and is survived by her two children, Joy Black of Sheridan, Arkansas and Jerry Plummer of Sacramento, California. Mom was an adoring grandmother to four grandsons, Kevin Wood, Kraig Wood, Jamey Black and Sean Plummer, and a great-grandmother to five grandsons. All who had the good fortune to know Mom were touched by her graceful humor, her love of family and friends, her prodigious memory, and her endless array of witticisms that continued through her failing health. The many friends and family who sat at her table and benefited from her culinary skills were always eager to repeat that experience. Mom, always of strong faith and with an abiding love of her Lord, will likely have a spirited debate with both her Lord and her deceased husband as she always viewed her long marriage as a package deal where she and Dad would exit life together. Mom, we so miss your presence in our lives, but rejoice that you now are comfortable at Home, and again with Dad. Memorials, in her memory, may be made to Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church, 1723 Schaer Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas where Mom was a faithful member of six decades, taught classes, and shared her remarkable knowledge of the bible. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Saturday at Gardner Memorial United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170. Online obituary and guest registry at www.nlrfh.com.
